LM MEETS Photo Meet-Up
Before the pandemic, photographers and models met up all the time to collaborate, network, and create art. New photo meet-up groups seemed to pop up every week, each bringing their own style and energy to the scene. Everyone was welcome, and most events were free.
Then the pandemic hit, and it all came to a halt. Since then, no one has really been able to bring those meet-ups back in the same way. That doesn’t mean people haven’t tried. I’m always on the lookout for these events so I can attend, shoot, and share them with other photographers.
That’s why LM MEET caught me by surprise. I had never heard of them before, but when they showed up on my feed, I was instantly curious. Their posts made it clear they were putting in the work to make the event as good as possible.
The shoot was scheduled for a weekday, which makes sense since most photographers and models usually have fewer paid gigs then. It was in Los Angeles, in an area most locals know well. During the day, the streets are packed with shoppers, and parking is a nightmare.
At night, it’s a different world. The crowds are gone, the air feels calmer, and the streetlights set the mood. It couldn’t have been a better spot for a group shoot.
I showed up about 15 minutes after the start time. A few models were already striking poses for photographers. I set up my flash and started shooting right away. As soon as I wrapped up with the first model, more began to arrive. The place lit up with camera flashes, LED panels, and people moving around, posing and creating. For a moment, it felt like the old days again.
The event was a hit. The models were friendly and generous with their time. The photographers were respectful and eager to make something great.
If LM MEET keeps this up, I’ll definitely be there for their future events.
